THE ISLAND’S SOCIAL SCENE ANXIOUSLY AWAITS THE DEBUT OF ABOVE ROOFTOP—A CONTEMPORARY NIGHTTIME VENUE AND SOCIAL MECCA AT THE HILTON GARDEN INN
Soaring 10 stories into the sky beyond Hilton Garden Inn is Above Rooftop—a posh nightlife venue slated to make its debut in September. This ultra-chic rooftop lounge—complete with spectacular, glittering views of the Manhattan skyline, Brooklyn, and New Jersey—is destined to become one of the island’s most highly coveted hot spots.
Sure, New York City has its The Standard and The Gansevoort Hotels, but now, local hipsters won’t have to leave our borough to mingle Manhattan style. They’ll soon be able to sip handcrafted cocktails from the privacy of elite rooftop cabanas, which line the scenic outdoor terrace.
When planning the concept and upscale design of the sleek, modern indoor and outdoor venue, Richard Nicotra, president and chairman of The Nicotra Group LLC, drew inspiration from other hip nightlife scenes around the country. Drawing from the best of Las Vegas, Miami, and NYC, Nicotra aimed to channel each’s essence into the local party scene. Of course, bottle service will be on the menu, as will a small, Tapaslike plate offering (available for late night snacking) and a lineup of handcrafted cocktails.
“There’s Manhattan, and then there’s everything else in the world. We want to be the Manhattan hotel for Staten Island. With our design, food, and service, we are going to achieve that and more,” said Nicotra.
Some may want to lounge around sipping cocktails and taking in the views, but dance enthusiasts might take to the floor to move to the grooves of international DJs. For those who yearn for more of a true social scene, on one Sunday of every month, Above Rooftop will host a “Sunday social” for those hoping to keep the weekend party going. Rather than offering a typical Sunday-style brunch, daytime event will host a dance party.
Rooftop Above boasts a sleek interior with oversize floor-toceiling windows. Two-thirds of the 10,000 square-feet of space is enclosed while one-third of it is devoted to an outdoor terrace (“The outdoor area will have heaters in the cabanas, so it’s not just a summertime destination,” added Nicotra).Above Lounge Hilton Garden Inn 1100 South Avenue Staten Island, NY 10314 718.477.2400
