Seaport, luxury international furniture brand Roche Bobois recently debuted an innovative outdoor furniture collection named “Sunset,” a collaboration with The Rockwell Group. Part of its spring/ summer 2019 line, Sunset presents streamlined looks—including examples seen here—that belie their clever design.

Pieces feature a powder-coated aluminum frame with rounded corners in dark blue, bronze, or white, with a range of headrest positions, interchangeable cushions, a fully detachable back support frame, and accessories such as food and drink trays, lumbar pillows, and towel slings. Slats are made of a composite wood and bamboo fiber material, making them durable and UV resistant. With wheels on one end and stackable frames, the lounges are also easy to transport and store.

“We have designed poolside clubs at luxury hotels and resorts that transition from day to night,” said David Rockwell of the Rockwell Group. “Sunset [furniture] transforms along with the activities around it. With a few simple moves, it converts from a lounger to a sofa with multiple configurations, creating space to gather.”

Founded in Paris in 1960, Roche Bobois, with 255 showrooms in 55 countries (including the U.S.), is a world leader in design known for its innovative contemporary creations, quality, European know-how, and French art de vivre. Furniture pieces evolve from collaboration among the brand, international designers, and European artisanal workshops, resulting in a high level of customization in sync with the fashion world. New collections are launched twice yearly and have featured designs by such couture luminaries as Kenzo Takada and Jean Paul Gaultier.
