MARCHESA’S SPRING COLLECTION BLOOMS WITH BEAUTY

BY CALEIGH OSTROM

Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman have created fairy-tale collections since co-founding the New York City-based fashion house, Marchesa, in 2004. Just made available, this taste of extravagance and adventure was inspired by the story of Aimée Crocker, a 19th-century railroad heiress, author, and socialite. Her love for the Far East, pearls, and flowers (and many husbands) informed some of the lavish material choices and romantic embroideries of the day. Here, a magnificent gown, crafted from dusty-blue tulle, contains colorful, floral appliqués that appear to float weightlessly, and is detailed with a pink velvet ribbon that defines the waistline.
