LOUBOUTIN’S NEWEST HIGH TOPS FOR GUYS ARE A REAL KICK IN THE PANTS

BY KIMBERLY LANDAU

In 2011, Christian Louboutin twenty years after opened his first store in Paris launched a collection of men’s footwear at a new store in the City of Light, at 19 Rue Jean Jacques Rousseau, steps from Les Halles. “It didn’t look so good,” Louboutin said to the New York Times in that year, of just selling women’s lines. “Sometimes women feel uncomfortable when men stare at them when they try on shoes.” The writer of that Times article, Eric Wilson, memorably described that first guys line as having “detail of decoration…reminiscent of courtiers’ shoes last seen in the court of Versailles.” Calmed down in their exuberance slightly, Louboutin’s chic statement shoes for men are now available at CoCo Parì one of the few area boutiques to showcase them.
