Mane Attractions
It’s with good reason that every celebrity worth her salt, from JLo to bad girl RiRi, use this
company’s products on their million-dollar manes. Oribe’s hair care, fusing modern technology
with rich ingredients, is a style staple for anybody who’s somebody. Cuban-born American Oribe Canales spent 30 years in hairdressing before launching his eponymous line in 2008 (he opened his first salon on Manhattan’s Upper East Side in 1987). The brand’s meteoric rise since is attributed not just to its carefully curated products that fix just about any beauty and hair dilemma, but also to a laundry list of collaborations with names like Nars, Herb Ritts, and Helmut Newton—one that helps constantly refresh its body of work… hair by hair. oribe.com

Amazing Lashes

After suffering through a costly and botched four-hour eyelash-extension procedure in 2010,
Jessica Le, a cosmetology graduate, knew she could create a better brand. So, after considerable
research and experimentation, Le developed four lightweight lash styles that were cost e cient
and could be applied using a minimal amount of adhesive. Together with her husband, Edward,
she opened the first Amazing Lash Studio in Houston, Texas that same year. The operation grew to
three locations by 2013, and was then franchised. Today, there are more than 180 locations across the United States, one of which recently opened in New Springville.

The 2,000-square-foot Staten Island studio, owned by Frank and Darcie LoGiudice, features 13 application suites where clients are treated during the two-hour process. And there are four
patented eyelash extension styles: Natural, Cute, Sexy, and Gorgeous—each selected based on eye
shape, lifestyle, and other parameters. A stylist conducts a full consultation on the client’s first visit to customize a look, and the fi rst full set of lashes is priced between $80 and $90.
