FOR HIS SUMMER LINES, CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN FOUND INSPIRATION IN THE KINETIC ART MOVEMENT

BY KIMBERLY LANDAU

Christian Louboutin’s Spring Summer 2019 collection drew inspiration from the Kinetic Art movement, specifically from the work of artist Julio Le Parc, who is known for his love of optical illusions. Louboutin mimicked the artist’s style with his collection of transparent backdrops, PVC discs of color, vertical lines, glimmering and reflective surfaces, and vivid pops of color in his new lines of shoes and bags.
