Words almost fail when it comes to assessing this custom 10,000 square foot home, set on seven private acres in the heart of Warren, New Jersey built in 2003 by the internationally recognized architect Jeffrey Beer, famous for his meticulous designs.
The home, which sits at the end of a cul de sac, boasts five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and indoor and outdoor living space that is simply unsurpassed. This property, which occupies one of the most private locations in Warren, offers the best of both worlds, said Patricia Riccio, sales agent for Coldwell Banker Residential, which lists the home. “It’s an exquisite residence, featured on the front cover of the winter issue of Homes & Estates, with meticulous appointments around Wevery corner and any amenity you can imagine,” said Riccio “This is for someone who can appreciate quality and is looking for that New York meets the tranquility of the country lifestyle, but with resort like living.”
A long driveway offers an impressive first look at the house, with its charming, Old World style slate roof, stone and stucco exterior with copper gutters, and turreted grand entryway. The driveway circles a fountain opposite the front door.
That front door 10 feet high and solid mahogany is flanked by a pair of arched windows. The main entryway, with its 20 foot ceiling, is lit by a crystal and gold leaf chandelier. A long staircase, with wrought iron balusters and a wooden bannister, hugs the side wall.
Pillared hallways with travertine flooring lead from the entryway to first level rooms, including the dining room, great room, living room, and kitchen. The grand hallway, a full 60 feet long, leads to an impressive library/office.
The gourmet kitchen, a chef’s delight, has hand built custom wood cabinets, granite countertops, a marble backsplash, and Viking, Thermador, and Bosch appliances. The center island, which sits beneath pendant chandeliers, doubles as a work and entertainment space. An open archways leads naturally into the family room.
Just beyond the kitchen is a breakfast rotunda with a green, 14 foot domed ceiling. A curved wall of windows overlooks the property and a large terrace. The table seats eight.
The family room is done in custom paneling on Brazilian cherry wood floors. A fireplace one of six in the house is the room’s focal point. The grand Kolbe window runs from floor to ceiling, while hardwood built ins line the walls. A comfortable seating area, with sofas and armchairs done in neutral colors, completes the space.
The formal dining room features floor to ceiling windows. The room’s crystal chandelier is set in a distinctive ceiling medallion above the solid wood table with double legs, and the lavender walls are accented by draperies. Just off the dining room there’s a pantry, with a dishwasher, wet sink, and wine refrigerator.
The great room, mere steps from the dining room, has more of those floor to ceiling windows, a 20 foot ceiling, and a grand limestone wood burning fireplace with an intricately detailed mantel. The hardwood floors are cherry. The room’s formal furnishings mirror the sea foam hue of the walls. The room leads naturally to the second floor, whose hallways look down on the space.
There’s also a wellappointed music room with a piano and furnishings done in burgundies and taupe. Next is the combined library/office, which features cherry wood walls and a coffered ceiling along with book shelves, a fireplace, plenty of natural light, and access to one of the home’s numerous stone terraces.
On the second level, the master suite offers four walk in closets, a dressing area, and a full bath with a standing bathtub. Both bedroom and bath have balconies. The bed is nestled into a curved wall of win Dows; across the room, a comfortable space is created by armchairs arranged around a gas fireplace. Each of the other four bedrooms has both a private bathroom and a balcony.
The house’s spacious lower level offers easy access to the resort like yard. There is a large game room, a theater room with a fireplace, a full gym, and a full kitchen. A wine cellar, which sits behind a gorgeous wooden door, features custom cabinetry and hundreds of bottles of wine.
There’s also a custom built bar, done in stone and wood, as well as a small refrigerator and an ice maker. The glass and wood display shelving and the flat screen TV give the space a comfortable, informal feel. The bar, which has granite counter tops, has seating for three on armed stools with tufted leather backs. The flooring is slate.
The lower level kitchen has a curved wall with windows and a walkout to one of the many patios (this one is covered). The room has wood cabinetry, granite countertops, a gas range, and a center island that seats three.
Also on this level is a professionally equipped gym, a media room, and a billiard room. Outside on the large patio, a wrought iron table seats eight.
“This house really takes outdoor living to the next level,” said Riccio. “There is a seamless, synergistic ambiance between the indoor space and outdoor living areas.”
The property has a heated pool with a waterfall and spa, a Jacuzzi, a built in outdoor fireplace, and multiple terraces. There’s ample outdoor lighting.
The heated, four car garage the fourth bay includes half a basketball court completes this amazing package. The house also has a seven zone forced heating and air conditioning system, surround sound, and a state of the art security system.
