A stunning new building on NJ’s Gold Coast will also feature enviable views and a range of posh amenities

Avora, the 11-story, amenity-rich building currently being constructed on Weehawken’s Hudson River waterfront, has received plenty of buzz for its unparalleled views of the midtown Manhattan skyline and $4 million penthouse homes. But its true significance stems from architecture.

“The design canvas of Avora is what really makes this building so special,” noted Gabe Pasquale, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Landsea, the property’s developer. “The building is very sleek and cutting edge, something of the Miami vernacular, with a white cast on the outside that’s not typical of vertical building plans. There’s a lot of movement from floor to floor, too, a sort of undulation in the building, which is also quite different for the New Jersey Gold Coast.”

Located in the heart of the $2 billion master-planned Port Imperial community, which stretches across two miles of Hudson River waterfront and through three municipalities, Avora is ideally situated for commuters. The building is within walking distance of the Port Imperial Ferry Terminal, which offers service to both midtown and downtown Manhattan. Hudson-Bergen Light Rail gives access to neighboring Hoboken, Jersey City, the PATH system, and New Jersey Transit’s Hoboken Terminal.

“This location is beyond fantastic,” Pasquale said. “Residents will be at the doorstep of several modes of transportation, and the building affords spectacular views of midtown and all its iconic towers.”

The structure’s design was penned by world-renowned Manhattan-based architects IBI Group, Inc., which conceived a multi-tiered, stepped-back design to maximize the waterfront location. Interiors feature spacious layouts, and the contemporary design is continued across public spaces and residences. A collection of one-, two- and three-bedroom homes—as well as a limited offering of duplex penthouses—priced from $800,000 to more than $4 million—were designed with a contemporary aesthetic of sleek lines. Dramatic finishes and appointments include nine-foot ceilings, chef’s kitchens with stainless steel appliances, and designer spa bathrooms with porcelain countertops, imported European stone finishes, and limestone baths. Many residences offer balconies and terraces with unimpeded New York City views.

“The appeal of the Gold Coast continues to grow, particularly in Weehawken, as buyers are drawn to its quality of life in terms of a waterfront setting, commuter convenience, urban/suburban attributes, and significant value,” said Pasquale. “Our buyers to date have ranged from young professionals looking for a new modern residence in a full-service building to empty-nesters looking to scale down from a single family home and live a vibrant, convenient lifestyle closer to Manhattan. Our first phase is more than 90% sold out, and we’ve just released the second phase of homes for sale.”

Residents will have access to a full suite of lifestyle amenities, including a lobby with a concierge, a private screening theater, a business center, an elegant boardroom, a grand salon lounge with a bar and catering kitchen, on-site pet grooming, and a state-of the-art fitness center. A landscaped third-floor outdoor plaza features a pool, a spacious sun deck, lounges, grilling areas, and fire pit—all set against the backdrop of the Manhattan skyline. Avora will also feature a secure parking garage, storage space for residents, bicycle storage, and 6,000 square feet of street-level retail space.

“The amenities can be compared to those of a five-star hotel,” Pasquale said. “The concierge will handle the arrangement and management of all packages, and there is a large refrigeration system equipped to store grocery orders and other perishable goods. There will be dry cleaning and shoe shining services, too, plus a private training studio within the fitness center, as well as his-and-her locker rooms, saunas, and social and gaming rooms.”

Port Imperial also features a series of waterfront walkways, parks, and the nearby Shops at Riverwalk—a dynamic and animated riverfront destination with a wide range of dining and shopping options.
