This year’s “Summer Social,” organized by Lennox Hill Radiology, Physio Logic, and The Ty Louis Campbell Foundation—held on June 10 at Physio Logic’s Fulton Street location—brought together top physicians from all New York City as well as their guests to kick off the summer season and raise money to fight pediatric cancer.

“Our aim was to raise awareness among all of New York City’s health care practitioners, and to involve them in making beneficial contributions to a great cause,” Physio Logic’s management offered in a statement.

Ty Louis Campbell was just two years and ten months old in August 2010, when a mass was found at the base of his skull, pressing against his brainstem. Soon after, he was diagnosed with a rhabdoid tumor, a rare and aggressive cancer specific to pediatrics. People started calling him “SuperTy” because he loved superheroes, and because he showed such strength throughout his treatment. He passed away at home in his parents’ arms on October 17, 2012.

Dedicated to him, the Ty Louis Campbell Foundation is a nonprofit that funds innovative research and clinical trials specifically geared toward treatment of the most aggressive childhood cancers (including brain and spinal cord tumors). Its ultimate mission is to help fund the intelligence and technology that will improve long term survival rates for kids diagnosed with the deadliest cancers. thetlcfoundation.org
