As a kid, Ohan Najarian knew the makes and models of all the cars passing by. Matchbox and remote control toys dominated his youth, as did visits to his uncle’s Boston garage where favorite models were worked on and racecars built. Once he could drive, the automobile enthusiast joined clubs and immersed himself in car culture. Although his career path began in the financial world, the road kept beckoning. Najarian eventually combined the two and now runs one of the most unique specialty car service firms in the state.

“Cars, driving, and automobile racing are buried in my genes for sure,” exclaimed the affable New Jersey native who now resides near Red Bank. “I have loved cars for as long as I can remember. My uncle would always be driving something different, whether a BMW, an old Fiat, or a Maserati. I still remember going into his office and seeing all the cool memorabilia he collected about cars, auto manufacturers, and race teams.”

The stick-shift devotee’s own vehicles have included a Camaro and a Ford Explorer, along with Porsches and Nissans. Currently enjoying his Volkswagon Golf TDI, his primary focus has shifted to the specialized needs of his clients.

Proprietor of two related companies—Clear Cut Vehicle Coatings Inc. and The Vault NJ Vehicle Storage & Transport, Najarian tested various “white glove” services before hitting on the current combination. His original target audience was beach bound shore homeowners eschewing traffic, preferring to be picked up at the train station and brought to a waiting car. Typical clients include those lacking sufficient garage space and owners who don’t want to leave vehicles outside in winter. One attorney based out of the country purchased a car he stores at The Vault rather than rent one for his frequent business trips to the tri-state (his car is transported in an enclosed trailer to his New York garage when he needs it). Keeping collector cars secure, storing students’ vehicles while they attend college, and other specialty needs are helping expand Najarian’s business.

“Not having the time to tend to their vehicles, a lot of our high-end clientele appreciate this level of service, especially those with a collection of rarely driven vehicles,” Najarian said. He and his former partner Todd Rovinsky entered the exotic car rental market with a 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo convertible and a 2014 Audi R8, but hidden costs from insurance, repairs, and lost revenue from down time prompted them to cease those operations.

The storage aspect caught on, however, and Najarian eventually bought out his partner, closed their Red Bank facility, and is seeking a new location to base operations. Clear Cut Vehicle Coatings, Inc. sells and installs automotive paint protection film, vinyl wrapping, and window tint, and a transport element launched last year by fortunate happenstance. After Najarian delivered a Bentley Continental GTC to Manhattan Motor Cars, he was asked if he would transport their clients’ Lamborghinis and Porsches. He quickly accepted, and thus began The Vault NJ Vehicle Transport. One of his first major contracts required transport of a new Lamborghini Aventador to a Colorado road rally, including a five-day stay there before returning the car to New York. Najarian also delivers vehicles to the seaport on their way to foreign buyers.

The exotic automotive life is good for the Villanova business major, 37, who has an Executive MBA from Rutgers University. While still trading, he started a small concierge company selling aftermarket vehicle accessories to his boss, friends, and fellow car buff traders.

“I was always picking up, working on, and dropping off whatever cool cars they spent their money on,” Najarian said. “I actually bought one of the Porsches I was working on. That led me to realize what I wanted to do, but I didn’t know where to start.” He veered in the right direction when his father and role model—a successful civil engineer—persuaded Najarian to come home and learn his business, Najarian Associates. That’s where he met Rovinsky, who was already in the clear vehicle coating business. The pair launched a joint venture in 2012.

The business offers novel services such as Plastidip, a spray that enhances vehicle aesthetics. Its new, warehouselike facility will encompass approximately 4,000 square feet with capacity for about 20 vehicles in a climate-controlled, high-security atmosphere.

“I want The Vault to be a client-driven, reputable, high-end one-stop service catering to those who want white-glove, private transport and a proprietor that cares about their vehicle,” Najarian explained. “My goal is to build a network of clients who will trust us with their automobiles and regard us as family. People who own high-end vehicles are part of a smaller circle than one might imagine. Reputation is everything. That is how I was raised.”
