CSEED

At a jaw-dropping 17-feet in diameter, this Austrian-made outdoor TV is overwhelming in both size and clarity

Even after a winter that could be gently described as unseasonably mild, it’s perfectly understandable to be suffering from cabin fever of a kind…to be uncontrollably compelled to take recreational activities to the open air. For those of such an inclination, as well as a spare $680,000 in the till, we present the C-SEED 201—described by its Austria-based maker as the largest outdoor television in the world. Produced in partnership with Porsche Design Studio, the 201-inch set adjusts in both height and angle, and withdraws into an underground storage container when not in use (deployment takes a mere 15 seconds). Composed of seven integrated LED panels, the resulting picture is 10 times brighter than that of a typical display, and can be viewed with clarity even in direct sunlight. No fewer than fifteen weatherproof speakers are integrated into the waterproof design (including six broadband speakers for the left and right audio channels, and three subwoofers for low frequencies), as are wind and temperature sensors in order to prevent damage from adverse conditions. The set has already made appearances at Formula 1 races and the Cannes Film Festival, but remember to bring not just your purchase money to the party, however, because the C-SEED draws approximately twice the electricity of a four-ton central air-conditioning unit, or 5,700 watts!
