ALENTINO’S DEMILUNE BAG HAS US HOPING THE BRAND’S NEWFOUND MODERN SENSIBILITY IS JUST THE BEGINNING

BY KIMBERLY LANDAU

Valentino Garavani, the 85 year old founder of the fashion house that bears his name, once demurely observed that, “There are only three things I can do make a dress, decorate a house, and entertain people.”

We’d humbly suggest that his crew can also design the hell out of a bag. Today, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli honor the house’s heritage while adding modern touches. Evidence of the latter sensibility is seen in this Demilune Light Pink Snakeskin Satchel, released as part of Valentino’s pre-fall 2017 bag collection, and extra stunning with its double handles and flip lock closure. It’s part of an ongoing effort to diversify lines past the ultra feminine and into a slightly funkier, edgier realm, and CoCo Parì carries the best selection from this brave new list of selections.
