Four-time National DJ Title Winner DJ Turbulence comes to the Golden Nugget

Born and Bred: Los Angeles

Early Days: A prodigy before he was legally allowed to drive, Tim Alejandro first learned his craft at 13 while sneaking into clubs, watching battles, and recording favorite radio DJ sets.

Approach: In a time of ever-changing technology, artists struggle to remain relevant to the demands of mainstream and underground culture simultaneously— to reign as a champion of the battle scene while achieving celebrity in the club circuit. DJ Turbulence achieved both, landing residencies at venues across the world as well as championships at regional, national, and international battles.

Career Highlights: Starting in 2004 and for five years thereafter, he became “the person I once looked up to” by becoming a radio DJ for Power 106 in LA. This opportunity opened more doors, including performing with or opening for Kanye West, Jay-Z, Beastie Boys, Busta Rhymes, Nate Dogg, Nas, Cypress Hill, and Swizz Beatz. He also partnered with fellow Battlestar crewmate DJ Phonics to form the duo The Tom Cruisaders. In 2009, 2010, and 2011, they went to London to represent the USA in the DMC World Team Finals, and made history by winning an unprecedented four national battle titles. He was also an instructor at Los Angeles’s Scratch Academy (founded by the late, great Jam Master Jay of Run DMC) and developed the Scratch 202 course there.

Philosophy: To push hard and challenge himself in varying ways. “I never want to be satisfied; the day I’m satisfied is the day I fail. I will always push to the next level.”
