A Staten Island native brings his home design skills to HGTV’s hit show brother vs. brother

Depicted as the “ultimate sibling rivalry” (good-natured of course), HGTV’s Brother Vs. Brother is set to begin its second season this June. The series features popular twins Jonathan and Drew Scott going head to head over grueling challenges wherein each mentors a team of five exceptional home improvement experts. The teams increase the property value of outdated homes by renovating, remodeling, and decorating. Finished projects are assessed by judges, team members are eliminated each week, and the winner takes home a $50,000 grand prize. And this season, unlike the first, a local, much-loved interior designer, contractor, and business owner made Team Drew…Eric Eremita.

The self-taught interior designer and contractor has a passion and talent for creating beautiful homes. After taking over his father’s glass and mirror business at the age of 21, this Staten Island native transformed it into a full-service design company. Now the proud owner of two businesses, Eremita describes his design style as “luxury meets artistry,” and enjoys what he does so much that told us he feels as though he’s never actually worked a day in his life. Eremita specializes in styling and accessorizing, masonry and tile work, window treatments, painting and wallpapering, woodworking, and particularly cherishes making custom mirrors and frameless shower doors.

After watching and loving the first season of Brother Vs. Brother, Eremita and his wife and children (HGTV fans all) bumped the show to the top of their favorites list. Both family and friends would joke about how Eremita’s oversized personality and skills would be perfect for video, and ultimately, he took their advice. After applying online and submitting pictures and a bio, he was called in for a go-see in New York City (one of the many held nationwide).

The only New Yorker of the season (in fact, the only person from anywhere on the East Coast), Eremita tackled the three-day challenges with vigor. With daunting timeframes and budgets, he and his team were proud of the work they did and results they achieved. The award-winning designer told us that, “Usually shows like this are very high-drama, but our team really got along great…we truly became friends even though we were in a competition.” Thankful for the opportunity HGTV gave him, Eremita is counting the days until the second season begins.

“I can’t wait to show the world what I have to offer,” he shared, “HGTV really saw my talents and gave me the chance to shine.”

Eremita called this the next chapter in his life, and Industry will update on show developments, rest assured.
