BY MATTHEW MIZRACH
For well over 100 years, the house of Chanel has been synonymous with haute couture producing many of the world’s most coveted fashions, luxury goods, and accessories. To this day, its extensive collections can be seen adorning celebrities, world leaders, trendsetters, fashionistas….and everyone in between. Enter the recent Camelia Galbe Collection a line of floral themed rings, earrings, bracelets, and necklaces that, as a company statement put it, is “the most sought after collection at the moment.” An integral theme component of many of the house’s accessories and fashions, the Camellia (its scientific name, as opposed to the Chanel spelling) a flowering plant found in eastern and southern Asia first caught the attention of Coco Chanel after her lover and muse (English polo player, Boy Capel) gave her a bouquet of them. “[The flower] is symbol of an independent and rebellious attitude,” according to Chanel. “The spirit of a woman who cultivates the art of unpredictability.” The Camellia can be seen brought to life in vivid detail in this one of a kind bracelet, studded with diamonds and set in 18K white gold.
