LANGUID MOVEMENT

Take it from Hermès, to keep warm in the peak of winter, one doesn’t have to settle for bulky layers. The French ultra-luxury house debunked this theory in fabulous fashion, curating a hyper-functional cold-weather wardrobe for this year’s Fall-Winter collection. The atelier’s solution? Crafting high quality technical separates like superior “knitwear that supports, loden that protects, and precious clothing that becomes one with the skin.” The result is a groundbreaking symphony of diverse statement pieces. From short and long wrap coats crafted in cashmere to asymmetric dresses rendered in soft wool and poncho vests with self-tie belts, the collection reaches the apex of casual chic. The brand’s creative director Nadège Vanhée-Cybulski presented a sartorial risqué point of view by inserting sheer paneling, belted silk knit micro-shorts, and frills and ruffles aplenty, an ode to romanticism and modernity in equal parts. hermes.com

GUCCI GETS CRAFTY

In a stirring collaboration, the House of Gucci teamed with HOSOO, a long-established Nishijin textile company that shares the Italian atelier’s insatiable spirit for innovation, expert craftsmanship, and tradition. The new limited edition collection reimagines the iconic Gucci Bamboo 1947 and the Gucci Diana bags in rich, hand woven textiles from the Japanese brand. Beginning with a luxurious foundation of silk threads, the textiles were used to reinvent Gucci’s house emblems. Nishijin wove its signature gold and silver leaves into the fabric, giving the bags a distinctive sheen. Born out of necessity in postwar Italy, when it was tough to find high-quality raw materials, the Gucci Bamboo 1947 was curated by founder Guccio Gucci, who selected lightweight and durable bamboo for the bag’s top handles. A chic follow-up was the Gucci Diana, a bamboo-handle tote with a utilitarian silhouette, at once timeless and of-the-moment. In this recent collab, the Diana is seen in two iterations, one in floral tapestry and another in monogram silk, both museum-worthy pieces sure to lure the discerning collector. gucci.com
