Kate Upton has been a swimsuit model and an actress, she’s popped up in music videos for Lady Antebellum, and fronted ad campaigns for everything from Bobbi Brown’s cosmetic line to the mobile app Game of War: Fire Age. In short, she’s carved out a career for herself over the years that’s now reached a point where no one should ever see her and say, “Kate Upton?! What are you doing here?”
That said, there’s a big difference between being paid to participate in an advertising campaign and putting your own money where your mouth is, so it was still somewhat surprising when Upton did the latter last year, joining the Vosa Spirits company as a co-owner.
Vosa’s predominant products are the Vodka Water, a non-carbonated offering, and High Line, made with sparkling water. Both contain natural flavors: Vodka Water flavor options include lemon, peach, raspberry lime, and pineapple, while High Line flavors span lemon, peach, cherry, and pineapple.
“We admire Kate greatly, and we were delighted to learn that she loved our cocktail offerings,” said Spencer Bailey, co-founder and CEO of Vosa Spirits, in a press release in October 2023. “We craft all Vosa products for an elevated, elegant cocktail experience as part of a relaxed and luxurious lifestyle. Kate embodies that essence. We welcome her and look forward to working together to grow Vosa Spirits.”
As a co-owner, Upton was promptly provided with the opportunity to participate in the development of new flavors, packaging design, and marketing strategies, all the while working to expand the consumer base for Vosa.
“I’m so excited about Vosa,” Upton gushed in an interview with Inside South Florida. “It’s actually a Michigan-based company, and I’m from Michigan…and Florida! I moved to Florida when I was seven. So it’s so exciting that Vosa started in Michigan, and now we’re bringing it to launch in Florida.”
“What really stood out to me was the quality ingredients that they use,” Upton continued. “In my life, I’m always looking for high-quality ingredients. It makes you feel better, it makes everything taste better, but especially when it’s alcohol-related, because it also makes waking up in the morning a lot better. The vodka is distilled six times, which makes it very high quality, which cuts down on your hangovers. It’s real fruit juice, there’s no sugars added, there’s no preservatives, and it’s gluten-free. This is a real high-quality drink that you’re really going to enjoy.”
As far as choosing someone as the face of their product, Vosa’s found the perfect person: as a supermodel and muse, fronting brands has been Upton’s stock and trade for most of her career.
