STRIKING THE PERFECT BALANCE BETWEEN FUNCTIONAL FURNITURE AND MODERN WORK OF ART, THIS CONTEMPORARY SOFA BORN FROM LOUIS VUITTON’S COLLABORATION WITH THE CAMPANA BROTHERS DESERVES A STANDING OVATION
BY MATTHEW MIZRACH
Since its launch nearly a decade ago, LV’s Objets Nomades Collection has been taking design enthusiasts on a magical carpet ride through vibrant colors, bending shapes, and contemporary patterns. A whimsical assortment of travel inspired furniture and artful objects, the collection is a celebration of diversity and creativity; an experimental collaboration amongst some of the world’s foremost designers and builders, each bringing to the table a unique perspective and cultural influence. Working with widely acclaimed designers like India Mahdavi and Marcel Wanders, LV is exploring a new approach to functional furniture pieces and home accents that simultaneously pay homage to the house’s past and embrace a bold and fresh new vision for the future.
Regular contributors to Objets Nomade, Brazilianborn designers Franco and Humberto Campana have produced some of the most iconic and boundary-pushing objects of the entire collection. The Bomboca Sofa is named after a traditional Brazilian confection and is as much an awe-inducing work of contemporary art as it is functional sofa. A voluptuously curved calfskin shell houses eight asymmetrical cushions that fit together like an abstract sculpture reminiscent of a cloud (and perhaps just as comfortable as one). The sofa is available in 15 unique color combinations, but the entire collection is limited to only 30 pieces per variation, so acquiring the perfect one for your home might prove to be a challenging, albeit worthwhile endeavor.
