LOS ANGELES-BASED LILIT MARKOSYAN’S ETHEREAL DESIGNS INVITE EVERY WOMAN TO DRESS LIKE A MODERN-DAY QUEEN

The beauty of fashion lies far beyond the fabric. It is a language of expression, a canvas for the imagination, and an invitation to dream. It is this very idea that inspires L.A.-based designer Lilit Markosyan in her celestial creations.

“I want to design garments that will make women feel more feminine, beautiful, and light. I want them to be free and y everywhere and spread beauty,” she said at her graduate runway collection FIDM DEBUT 2017. As gossamer gowns wafted down the catwalk, vibrant ruffed silk separates and dresses embellished with glittering natural elements felt like a moving fairytale before your very eyes.

Markosyan’s inaugural collection was inspired by butterflies. “Every single butter y is so unique; so is every single woman,” she said. “I try to make them feel unique.” Uniqueness is a pillar in her collections, as the brand specializes in elegant evening gowns, cocktail dresses, dressy separates, and custom couture pieces. In an interview with Gemma Magazine, the Armenia native explained, “My interest [in fashion] began when I was young; it started with an appreciation for beauty. It later evolved into a desire to create beauty.”

And considering the intricate detailing of each piece oral appliqués, beaded embellishments, tulle dresses tiered like a layer cake her designs are as multi-textural as her inspirations. She also told Gemma, “I can get inspired by the fabric, nature, architecture, a painting, a musical piece, or people I meet. Everything can inspire me to a certain degree.”

Markosyan’s designs are wearable pieces of art and invite each woman to radiate confidence, femininity, and power.
