TAKING THE DESIGN CODES OF ITS SKAFANDER INTO ANOTHER REALM, FRANCK MULLER INTRODUCES A CHRONOGRAPH VERSION OF ITS FAMED DIVE WATCH

BY ARCHANA AITHAL ROSE

Famous for its slogan, “Brand of Complications,” watchmaker Franck Muller, who founded his namesake label in 1983, has never shied from establishing then improving on perfection. With a factory located in Les Bois, in the Swiss Jura, the brand’s newest offering is very much in that idiom. Rendered for the first time in a tonneau shape, Muller’s Skafander series is now presented in an upgraded chronographic diver version. Backed by a power reserve of 42 hours and water resistant up to 300 feet, the refreshed model is rendered here in vibrant yellow and black (red, green, and all-black options available). With a calibre automatic movement, the timepiece comes in a 46mm titanium case and features a Côtes de Genève and sunray brushing on the bridges and oscillating weight. A 24-karat gold finish on the engravings and unidirectional rotating bezel indicate dive duration. (The rotating disk under the dial, adjustable by a push button, indicates remaining dive time.)
