From bubbling artisan pizzas to rustic, housemade Italian favorites (plus a heavenly Red Bank spa experience), these Garden Staten standouts will serenade your soul this winter

SWEET RETREAT

Newly renovated, Woodhouse Spa in Red Bank is a true oasis, tucked away from the outside world. From the moment you step inside and begin to walk down the swirling staircase, you are instantly transported to paradise. I indulged in the Calming Retreat, which included a massage and full body scrub. To sum it up in a word: heaven. The spa offers a sprawling selection of services, from facials and massages to mani/pedis, and it recently debuted a new relaxation room. woodhousespas.com

MUST-TRY PIES

Upon first glance, Urban Coalhouse might look like a casual (albeit top-notch) pizzeria, but this eclectic eatery with three New Jersey locations is dishing out so much more. From craft cocktails and hearty Italian dishes to fried calamari, homemade meatballs, and more, there’s so much to discover. (I recommend the espresso martini and cheesy garlic bread!) urbancoalhouse.com

OLDWORLD WONDER

One of my all-time favorite Italian restaurants in New Jersey, II Nido should be at the top of your list for a rustic, cozy Italian dinner. It’s a perfect setting for a romantic date night with special someone; be sure to reserve the chef’s table for a behind-the-scenes look at how the magic happens. Carnivores, don’t miss the 16-oz dry-aged ribeye, or if fresh pasta is what you crave, delight in the hand cut pappardelle with wild boar. ilnidonj.com
