A HYBRID OF YACHT AND PRIVATE ISLAND, THIS AMAZING DESIGN IS STABLE, VERSATILE, AND TRANSPORTABLE

Not surprisingly, in an age of constant celebrity pursuit, both virtual and actual, buying a private island has become a preferred asset among A-listers. From Leonardo DiCaprio’s Blackadore Caye off the coast of Belize and Johnny Depp’s 45-acre Little Halls Pond Caye in the Caribbean, to Bond Caye just north of the Bahamas, purchased by Shakira (along with Pink Floyd cofounder Roger Waters)—private oceanic refuges offer unique advantages… and status.

Of course, there are some practical limitations to this super indulgence; the world will eventually run out of habitable private islands available for purchase, and rising ocean waters will swallow up a good number of them in the next few decades. But what if there were options that were not only buoyant, but that you could take anywhere you like?

This is the concept behind Yacht Island Design Ltd.’s Tropical Island Paradise. With elements inspired by islands of the Caribbean, this fascinating craft is 295 feet long, with a beam of 108 feet, but requires a considerable 26 feet of draft (in other words, owners can’t bring it to just any dockside), accommodates up to 10 guests in four VIP suites, and reaches a maximum speed of 15 knots.

Amenities include a swimming pool, guest cabanas, outdoor dining facility with a full bar, and a waterfall that courses from the top of an artificial volcano into a swimming pool. (Inside the volcano, incidentally, is a cinema, library, games room, gym, and spa.) The rear deck doubles as a helicopter landing pad, while the stern doubles as a deployable beach deck allowing direct access to the water.
