CUTTING EDGE TECH FABRICS INCLUDING A NOVEL HYBRID OF COLLAGEN, MODAL, AND VISCOSE RAYON ARE HELPING MAKE WRINKLE FREE LIVING CHIC, ECO FRIENDLY, AND COMFORTABLE

BY MICHAEL AND MATT DURU

Advances made in fiber technology has had profound impact in the world of clothing. What started out as a search for non-wrinkling fabrics has evolved into new classifications in traditional menswear, and applicability in even the most elite of styles and brands including athleisure designs you can work out in but are also wearable the entire day?

The timeless button front shirt, for example, gets a modern upgrade with high tech fabric that cools, wicks moisture, and doesn’t need an iron or a dry cleaner. This comfortable, breathable, four way stretch material takes you from work week to weekend.

Most recently, the buzz is around sustainable clothing. A brand called Buki has introduced a textile made from marine sourced collagen peptide. The Seattle based company’s resulting Collagen Collection combining collagen powder with other fibers such as modal and viscose rayon to create a hybrid knit relays moisture to the wearer’s skin and provides superior sun protection (UPF 50+). This garment also happens to be one of the softest on the market, with the added benefit of giving whoever wears it more supple skin.
