Submersive — Austin, Texas
Long before immersive experiences became a hot-ticket buzzword, Meow Wolf was redefining how audiences interact with art. The groundbreaking collective, which launched its first permanent installation in Santa Fe in 2016 before spreading to Las Vegas, Denver, Grapevine (Texas), and Houston, invites intrepid visitors into sprawling, surreal worlds where every hallway, hidden passage, and glowing portal is part of the story. Today, Meow Wolf co-founder Corvas Brinkerhoff is applying that same spirit of multi-sensory fantasy and discovery to an entirely different arena: wellness.
His latest venture, Submersive, is billed as the world’s first immersive art bathhouse and slated to open in Austin in 2027. Stretching across a massive 20,000 square feet near the limestone-fed Barton Springs Pool, the ambitious concept blends traditional thermal bathing rituals with mind-bending art, neuroscience-informed design, and cutting-edge tech. Guests will wind through a collection of experiential saunas, steam rooms, hot baths, cold plunges, and more, all heightened with dynamic lighting, adaptive soundscapes, astral projections, mist effects, and Meow Wolf’s signature interactivity. The experimental special effects aren’t intended as entertainment alone, but to induce healing, relaxation, awe, and euphoria.
Brinkerhoff and his team are drawing from the emerging field of neuroaesthetics to explore how immersive environments can affect mood, stress levels, and overall well-being. In his words, “Submersive is the next chapter – an exploration of what’s possible when art, science, and human connection come together to transform lives.”

QC Terme — Milano, Italy
Tucked within a former tram depot in the hip Milanese hood of Porta Romana, this whimsical wellness playground serves a feast of modern delights surrounded by 16th century Spanish walls. The sprawling thermal retreat is built around a self-guided “wellness path,” inviting guests to wander between saunas, steam baths, thermal pools, hydrotherapy circuits, and a collection of imaginative relaxation rooms, each with its own mood and sensory theme.
The star attraction is undoubtedly the Storm Room, a cinematic thermal experience that’s taken social media by, well, storm. Guests soak in a warm thermal pool while lightning flashes across massive screens, thunder rumbles throughout the space, and bouts of rain pour from the ceiling. It’s equal parts spa treatment and sensory theater, offering a surprisingly relaxing encounter with the raw power of nature, though you won’t lament getting caught without an umbrella. Beyond the storm lies a maze of equally intriguing spaces. Sweat it out in a variety of saunas, including the internet-famous Tram Bio-Sauna housed inside a restored Venotto carriage, before unwinding in your choice of seven relaxation rooms, from the snow-white Butterfly House with sound armchairs to the Theater of Marvels, a dark, deliciously eerie cavern with spacey pod beds surrounding an open-air gas fireplace. Face and body treatments are also up for grabs, and the leafy garden café serves a classic daily aperitivo with seasonal bites and sparkling wine.

Hagastrand Spa — Stockholm, Sweden
Fresh off its November 2025 debut on the shores of Lake Brunnsviken in Stockholm’s historic Haga Royal Park, Hagastrand has positioned itself as one of Scandinavia’s most ambitious wellness destinations. The 27,000-square-foot spa was conceived around the idea of “social wellness,” reimagining Nordic bathing traditions with captivating sensory experiences and biohacking tech in contemporary-chic digs. Developed in partnership with wellness visionary Alla Sokolova, the retreat presents like a carefully choreographed journey through heat, cold, sound, and stillness.
Spa-goers can take part in an extensive thermal circuit featuring a hammam, herbal sauna, traditional Nordic sauna, experience showers, and one of Scandinavia’s largest snow rooms. The centerpiece is a 60-person event sauna, where certified sauna masters lead immersive rituals accompanied by music, storytelling, aromatics, and performance elements that transform a simple sweat session into communal cinema. The spa’s most futuristic experiences revolve around sound and vibration. Neuro-acoustic massage beds paired with red-light therapy use rhythmic sound frequencies to encourage deep relaxation, recovery, and nervous-system regulation. The grand finale, however, is Gongmatic – the first self-playing gong installation in Scandinavia. Housed in a dedicated acoustic chamber, the massive titanium gong resonates without mallets or speakers, filling the room with hypnotic vibrations as you recline in heated ceramic loungers.

Euphoria Retreat — Mystras, Greece
Nestled in the foothills of Mount Taygetus near the UNESCO-listed Byzantine city of Mystras, this boutique wellness retreat was conceived as a place of transformation, where ancient Greek wisdom, traditional Chinese medicine, and modern science collide in one spectacular setting. The spa itself spans four levels and is anchored by a dramatic spherical hydrotherapy pool that serves as the property’s physical and symbolic center. You’ll move through a labyrinth of wellness experiences that includes a Byzantine hammam, Finnish sauna, steam room, salt therapy chamber, cold plunge pool, temperature-shifting experiential showers, a tepidarium, hot tubs, yoga and meditation spaces, and a sensory deprivation pool. The architectural centerpiece is a towering spiral staircase inspired by Byzantine design, intended to represent a journey from darkness to light.
Here, ancient remedies and scientific innovations work hand-in-hand to restore physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual balance. Health and wellness programs span everything from cellular detox and hormone balancing to nutrigenomics and emotional harmony. Guests begin with metabolic testing, longevity consultations, and advanced wellness screenings before embarking on tailored experiences guided by an expert team of doctors, mentors, nutritionists, therapists, and fitness instructors. A typical stay might combine acupuncture, meditation, sound therapy, forest walks, Pilates, hydrotherapy, nutrition coaching, and more. Rather than focusing solely on pampering, Euphoria aims to help guests uncover the root causes of imbalance at the cellular level before sending them home with practical tools for lasting well-being – all amid stunning Mediterranean scenery.
