MOLEY ROBOTICS TAKES US ON A JOURNEY INTO THE FUTURE WITH ITS JAW-DROPPING HOME KITCHEN INNOVATION ONE THAT INTEGRATES THE EXPERTISE AND SKILL OF AN EXPERIENCED CHEF WITH THE ROBOTIC INGENUITY OF TOMORROW
BY MATTHEW MIZRACH
Take yourself back to the earliest days of the modern tech era, and try to imagine the most “pie-in-thesky” ideas you had about the future. Maybe you envisioned a Trekkie-style watch that could audio and video conference anyone, anywhere? Hello, Apple Watch! Perhaps you thought the future was virtual, and we’d soon transport our minds into a fully immersive digital world? Well, VR brands like Oculus just had their most lucrative year to date. What about your very own personal robot, who at the press of a button will whip up your favorite meal? Though many of us might think that a robot chef is still decades away, Moley Robotics is here to assure us that the future is now.
Introducing a game-changing creation from the Londonbased robotics lab, the world’s very first robotic kitchen. For a hefty price tag (entry level kitchens cost about as much as a Rolls-Royce Ghost), you can now customize a fully automated kitchen unit, complete with robotic arms that will cook you a restaurant quality meal and even take care of the mess afterward. Each Moley Kitchen also consists of automated cabinets, a full set of appliances, a recipe recording system, and a GUI screen equipped with a library of recipes, all optimized for robotic (and human) use. Motley partnered with SCHUNK, a multinational manufacturing company to create anthropomorphic arms which precisely mimic the movements of a human hand. These arms recreate the skills and abilities of a chef and, like us, can even learn new techniques and recipes. The kitchen will also inform you when you’re running low on ingredients, make recipe suggestions based on the ingredients you do have, and clean and sanitize all surfaces automatically via UV disinfectant. As the U.K. brand so eloquently stated, “The Future is Served.”
