BEACHFRONT BLISS

Regent Hotels & Resorts returns to the Americas with flagship Regent Santa Monica Beach, commanding the highest starting room rates in town (and for good reason). Standard rooms feel like suites, starting at 720 square feet, with Italian marble bathrooms, enormous walk-in rain showers, and deep soaking tubs. Many rooms have expansive terraces with fire pits overlooking the beach. Natural light streams into the lobby atrium, which flows into signature restaurant Orla, where James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Mina gets back to his Egyptian roots with a Mediterranean menu featuring sustainable local seafood and Santa Monica Farmers Market produce. The Guerlain Wellness Spa is also the first on the West Coast, with a first-of-its-kind radiofrequency machine to tighten and tone from head to toe. 1700 Ocean Avenue, Santa Monica, santamonica.regenthotels.com

COAST TO COAST

The Kimpton Everly Hotel’s new executive chef Ashley Thompson launched a Mediterranean pop-up dining experience at Ever Bar, inspired by the Amalfi Coast and Greek Isles. The name Written Hand evokes a poetic nod to the care and intention of a handwritten letter inspired by Thompson’s travels along the Aegean Coast. The relaxed and lively pop-up runs through February, serving limoncello, freezer martinis, and refreshing spritzes paired with head-on prawns, grilled tuna collar, tinned fish, and colorful salads using local produce from Wesier Farms and Girl & Dug. When you’ve had one too many drinks, simply book a room upstairs in one of 12 Everly Suites with clawfoot soaking tubs, walk-in showers, and views of the Hollywood sign. 1800 Argyle Ave, everlyhotelhollywood.com

DESSERT DEN

Lavender and Truffles is L.A.’s favorite new gelato a small-batch, plant-based brand by Taiwanese founder Alicia Liu specializing in Asian flavors like black tahini, ginger turmeric, lychee rose, and matcha stracciatella. You can find pints in Erewhon stores, along with restaurants like Chifa, Shirube, Brothers Sushi, and Zinqué, and Liu recently debuted a speakeasy-style dessert den in Venice open Thursday through Sunday afternoons and evenings. The pop-up ice cream boutique and tasting bar serves rotating soft serve flavors, along with scoops, pints, and parfaits. For Lunar New Year, Liu is including little red envelopes for some lucky customers to win free pints. 70 Windward Avenue, Venice, lavenderandtruffles.com

FEAST OF DREAMS

Chef Aitor Zabala’s visionary 14-seat chef’s counter tasting menu returns after a four-year hiatus as L.A.’s most anticipated fine dining restaurant. Zabala achieved two Michelin stars at Somni’s previous location in the SLS Beverly Hills, and his elegant new West Hollywood kitchen is built for sustainability, while diners have a front-row view. Somni is the Catalan word for “dream” and Zabala balances molecular creativity and nostalgia with inspiration from his native Spain and Los Angeles’ vibrant culture to craft an ethereal culinary experience. Basque-inspired dishes like kinki with pilpil sauce and aged txuleta steak are intertwined with playful parmesan feathers and whimsical desserts. Wine pairings highlight California and Spanish bottles, and a private dining room in the wine cellar seats up to six guests. 9045 Nemo Street, West Hollywood, somnirestaurant.com

NEXT STOP: NAPA

Popping up to wine country for a quick jaunt has never been easier or more luxurious. Aero, the book-by-the-seat jet service that offers the private jet experience for a sliver of the usual cost, recently debuted new semi-private nonstops from the Van Nuys Airport. After arriving at the Aero lounge, travelers are invited to sip champagne and nibble gourmet hors d’oeuvres before boarding the 16-passenger Embraer ERJ-135. In the air, the one-hour flight time zips by as patrons graze a charcuterie platter along with samplings from Sullivan Rutherford Estate Winery. Upon landing at Napa County Airport, a Mercedes is waiting to chauffeur you to your resort or perhaps straight to Caymus vineyards. aero.com
