Los Angeles

A LEGEND LANDS IN LA
Sushi Nakazawa’s New York and Washington D.C. locations have Michelin stars, so there are high hopes for the group’s third and newest location, which has been several years in the making. Both executive chef Ken Ji and executive sous chef Jeffrey Hunter worked with namesake chef Daisuke Nakazawa at his locations in New York and D.C. Choose from the $190 classic sushi menu and a $295 chef’s menu that includes several cooked dishes like a hot and cold duo of uni tempura and sorbet interspersed with nigiri. An extensive sake list is available, along with sake, wine, and non-alcoholic pairings. Sit at the sushi counter to banter with the chefs, with nigiri served piece by piece. Dining room tables are also an option for larger parties. 145 S Robertson Boulevard, sushinakazawa.com
DIRECTOR’S CUT
Chef Dave Beran is on top of the world, recently winning the Best Chef: California award at the 2026 James Beard Awards and receiving his first Michelin star for Seline. Now he’s debuting a director’s cut extended tasting menu that’s 24-27 courses and $465 compared to 16-18 courses at $295 for the regular menu. The extended tasting menu is an operatic flex of Beran’s full talents, only available for eight diners nightly. Due to the elaborate preparations, dietary restrictions cannot be accommodated. Excellent service, pacing, and innovative preparations that draw on childhood memories and whimsy keep diners captivated for more than three hours, including an iridescent caviar banana course inspired by his daughter’s love of unicorns and caviar. Beverage pairings are a must, including wine, sake, and the best non-alcoholic pairings in Los Angeles. 3110 Main Street, Suite 132, Santa Monica, selinerestaurant.com
HARMONIC HEALING
The Sun Rose West Hollywood (formerly Pendry) is only a year old, but it’s quickly become one of Sunset Boulevard’s premier live music venues with Live at The Sun Rose. The hotel is located on the historic site of the former House of Blues, and weekly shows pay homage to that legacy, with performances curated by creative director and Grammy- and Emmy-winning musician Adam Blackstone. The 100-seat music club specializes in blues and jazz, with comedy, pop, rap, and R&B thrown into the mix, too. The Sun Rose has also upped the wellness ante too, recently adding an Aescape robot massage and complimentary red-light therapy showers to the small but sophisticated spa. 8430 Sunset Boulevard, West Hollywood, thesunrosehotel.com, liveatthesunrose.com
BAD TO THE BONE
Another New York-born wild child is making the pilgrimage West. Bad Roman, the flashy, unapologetically over-the-top Italian haunt on the Upper West Side, recently debuted in Beverly Hills, and yes, the garlic-shaped chandeliers made the trek, too. There’s also a statue of a giant boar donning a neon necklace, rich green velvet banquettes, and serpent door handles. It’s glamour turned to the max, and the food is cinematic to match: a large cacio e pepe ravioli resting atop filet mignon releases a pool of pecorino Romano when cut into, while the spicy lobster pasta is flambéed tableside. The garlic “bakka” is a must, featuring a deliciously obscene amount of roasted garlic twisted into a buttery babka loaf. 267 N Canon Drive, Beverly Hills, badromanrestaurants.com
RED GOLD
Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation (EBOO) is the latest biohacking therapy capturing the attention of longevity-obsessed Angelenos. The advanced blood-conditioning procedure circulates blood through a closed-loop system outside the body. Approximately two liters of blood are treated in an hour-long session. Deep red blood is drawn from one arm, and much brighter red blood is returned to the other arm after being infused with medical-grade oxygen-ozone gas to reduce oxidative stress and inflammation. At Evolve Anti-Aging longevity clinic, EBOO is recommended to about a third of patients, but every patient begins with an advanced bloodwork panel processed immediately in their in-house lab that tests 65 different biomarkers to help create a personalized wellness plan. 16500 Ventura Boulevard, Encino, evolveantiaging.com
