HIGH ROLLER

The Ritz-Carlton, Portland is a stunning debut for the brand in the Pacific Northwest. The sparkling skyscraper is easily the most luxurious and glamorous hotel in the city, offering panoramic views from the 20th floor club lounge and signature restaurant Bellpine. Portuguese chef Pedro Almeida’s menu at Bellpine is impressively ambitious, with playful small plates to start and family-style grand dishes to share. Save room for avant-garde desserts celebrating Oregon’s different regions and climates. One floor below, the fitness center, spa, and zero-edge infinity pool have equally beautiful skyline views and talented therapists with strong hands. Copper and timber design motifs throughout the hotel include dramatic tree branch chandeliers in the lobby and a reclaimed Douglas fir table at lobby bar Meadowrue. 900 SW Washington Street, ritzcarlton.com/portland

TABLESIDE TIPPLE

Nicole Spread

Dim sum meets pintxos at Portland’s liveliest cocktail bar, The Love Shack, in Slabtown. Take a seat outdoors under yellow umbrellas, or indoors at a spacious booth under a thatched roof hut. Roving food carts offer up miniature cocktails and bite-sized snacks like croissant banh mi, little gem lettuce cups stuffed with pok pok laap, and wonton fish tacos. The fun tropical vibe and tableside service will appeal to anyone who enjoys dim sum or likes small things. Servers stamp your bingo card menu with hearts to keep track of your order, and there’s a full cocktail list and a few larger plates available from the kitchen as well. 1645 NW 21st Avenue, theloveshackpdx.com

SOIGNÉ SUPPER

A passionate young team led by new executive chef Elijah Rivers is taking one of Portland’s fine dining gems to new heights. Quaintrelle is one of the rare tasting menu restaurants left in Portland, and Rivers’ thoughtful, seasonal ingredient-driven menu is delicious from start to finish. His sauces are excellent, whether it’s smoked beurre blanc with perfectly scored grilled porcini mushrooms or little gem lettuce foam with blistered sungold tomatoes. The cheese course is a delightful surprise, and far more intricate than you might expect. There’s an intimate four-seat bar at the back adjacent to a covered plant-filled patio, and an exquisite vegetarian tasting menu is available upon request. 2032 SE Clinton Street, quaintrelle.co

WILL YOU BERRY ME?

Many of Portland’s top restaurants serve Bauman’s award-winning cider, but you can go straight to the source at the cidery’s new taproom and restaurant Bauman’s on Oak. Taste a couple dozen different ciders ranging from traditional single varietals and blends to modern fruit ciders and cider slushies. Estate-grown loganberries, a hybrid between blackberries and raspberries, flavor their bestseller, a brilliant juicy red modern cider that represents founder and head cidermaker Christine Bauman Walter’s childhood growing up enjoying berry fights on Bauman’s Farm. The food is rustic, inspired by the farm and everything from butter to pickles is made in house. Rye and spelt sourdough with caramelized onion butter is a perfect pairing for cider, and Walter catches the smoked salmon herself in Alaska. 930 SE Oak Street, baumanscider.com/baumansonoak
