HERVE LEGER’S NAUTICALLYINSPIRED BANDAGE-KNIT BIKINI HAS US CRAVING THE WAVES

BY TAYLOR AMATUZZO

Herve Leger’s fashion house was founded in 1985 by Hervé Peugnet. Karl Lagerfeld advised the designer that his surname would be too difficult for Americans to pronounce, suggested Léger instead… and a legend was born…with one of the label’s distinctions being that its designs were knitted, not sewn. Its first real impact came in the form of the pioneering bandage dress that both molds and shapes a wearer’s figure with bandage-like strips.

This sapphire super-hot number is skin-bearing without being too scandalous—a form-shaping two-piece that boasts precisely-placed cutouts, an off-the-shoulder neckline, cap sleeves, and a backzip closure. The bottom offers crossover side straps along with a very low rise and partial seat coverage. It’s made of a polyester/nylon/spandex blend which holds the knit form wonderfully, but still allows for easy dips in the pool or ocean with its quick dry-ability and shiny finish.
