CASA DI LANGA, A NEW SUSTAINABLE HOTEL PERCHED ATOP THE ROLLING HILLS OF PIEDMONT, ITALY, DEBUTS THE WORLD’S FIRST TRUFFLE CONCIERGE
BY ARCHANA AITHAL ROSE
A recent survey that outlines consumer habits in a post-pandemic world observed that 70% of travelers now opt for experiences over objects when spending their money. Capitalizing on that psychology, a newly opened eco property in Italy is offering a customized sensory experience that involves hunting for precious truffles as a part of the world’s first truffle concierge. Mid-September through January officially marks truffle season in Italy, and the bountiful harvest attracts a plethora of international culinary connoisseurs and wanderlusters alike to the region of Piedmont. Nestled between Baralo and Babaresco, the famed Italian wine region houses Casa di Langa, a sustainable luxury resort neighbored by a UNESCO world heritage site rich with white truffles. To connect guests with the region’s extraordinary landscape, the 39-room, five-star hotel has curated a truffle excursion with dining package that starts with a truffle hunt led by their Lagottos, an Italian dog breed known for sniffing out the precious ‘fishrooms. Guests are later treated to a seasonal three-course menu, including treats with truffles at the hotel’s restaurant, Fàula, helmed by celebrated chef Manuel Bouchard. Prepare to be transformed as you enjoy the fruits of your labor, dining al fresco at one of the highest vantage points in the region while the sun sets over the lush vineyards.
