INDUSTRY MAGAZINE: How did you get started modeling?
Sabrina Calvo: I originally wanted to be a fashion designer, but I was scouted to be a model and decided that would be a great place to get into the fashion world and learn from people who are already in the industry. I absolutely love what I do and know that I will end up designing in the near future.

IM: Does your background influence your look?
SC: Yes, absolutely. I live in Miami so I work a lot with swim brands and resort wear. The climate here is tropical all year around.

IM: Where are you currently living?
SC: I am currently in Miami but I am always traveling and on the go.

IM: Tell us about your career.
SC: My career entails me to stay fit and live a healthy lifestyle. Every day is different. Sometimes I am waking up at 3-4 in the morning to start getting hair and makeup done for early sunrise shoots. Other times, I can be shooting a music video or commercial for 12-15 hours a day or working a runway show.

There are days when I get a call and need to prepare a bag and fly to a shoot that same night. I work with creative people in the industry who are always inspiring me to reach new limits and I never stop learning. It’s always very exciting and always something new. That is one of my favorite things about my career.

IM: Tell us about some gigs you’ve done.
SC: I have worked for many brands and designers, small and big, ranging anywhere from Maybelline to Nike and Versace. I have also shot commercials and music videos with some of the world’s biggest names like Justin Bieber and J Balvin.

IM: What is your favorite thing about the fall season?
SC: I absolutely love fall fashion. There are so many great ways to use layers and I love how you can put together a great street wear look with a leather jacket or go for a very elegant and sophisticated style paired with some killer boots and a scarf.

IM: What do you hope for your future?
SC: My goal is to start my own brand and to start designing. My parents are entrepreneurs and I grew up seeing that my whole life. They started from scratch coming to this country and that really inspires me to follow my passion. It has never changed since I got into the fashion industry!

IM: What are a few of your favorite things?
SC: I adore traveling! I am a nerd when it comes to learning new things especially when it has to do with different cultures and history. I love a good adventure and being active. Being outside and feeling the sun on my skin whether I am rollerblading, biking, or dancing at a festival is my absolute favorite. Oh and eating! Not to mention I cook, too.

IM: How would you describe your look in three words?
SC: Exotic, elegant, versatile.

IM: How would you describe your personality in three words?
SC: Silly, strong, compassionate

IM: What did you always want to be when you were growing up?
SC: I wanted to be a million things! Actress, singer, designer, psychologist, vet, chef, but mainly I dreamed of hosting my own travel show. Kind of like Brooke Burke back in the day or Anthony Bourdain.
