INDEPENDENT THINKING AND CAREER DIVERSITY TAKE THIS ACCOUNTING MAJOR WHERE SHE NEEDS TO GO

INDUSTRY: How did you get started modeling?
JACQUELYN CASSIDY: I started when I was about 25 years old, when I came across an agency called Posh Models and needed portfolio pictures to see if I could be a part of its team. Ever since, I have been working with photographers on the weekends as a hobby. My principal career is in hedge funds, on an operational division team. I studied accounting, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from The College of New Jersey.

Tell us about some modeling gigs you’ve done.
I was recently booked as a lingerie model for the Curve New York show this past February at the Javitz Center. I also have been involved with photography workshops at the White Box in Ocean Grove for lingerie and editorial work.

How does your background influence your look?
I grew up in a very conservative environment, so doing photo shoots in lingerie and swimwear is something people would not have expected of me, which is one of the reasons why I love it so much. People are always trying to label you as one particular category, but I think it’s important to do what fuels passion and defies others’ interpretations.

Where do you live?
In central New Jersey.

What are your hopes for the future?
To pursue a career that I fall in love doing every day. I think we all hope to find a job that not only pays bills, but is something we also love doing.

What else makes you happy?
Oh…working out, hanging out with my closest friends, and going to the beach. I find that summer days are my favorite because I can just drive to the beach and clear my mind of anything I’m struggling with. It has always brought a sense of peace for me.

How would you describe your look in three words?
Hmmm…trendy, simple, and chic.

And your personality in three words?
Can’t give you just three words, there [laughs]. I’d say that I’m a hardworking individual…determined to accomplish something. I am also independent, but soft spoken. I also feel strongly that people need to focus more on themselves and what makes them happy rather than being concerned about what other people say or think.
