HOW THIS WAYNE, NJ COMPANY STANDS APART IN THE CBD OIL PRODUCT PANTHEON

After years of back and sciatica issues, and with chiropractic and acupuncture only offering short term relief, Chuck Seergy elected to try something out of the ordinary nearly two years ago. A good friend, pharmacist Maria Favocci, encouraged him to try a product containing cannabidiol, or CBD.

“I tried it, reluctantly, though I would have tried anything,” Seergy recalled. “And within two days I found that I no longer had back pain, and that the arthritis in my hand got better from just applying the lotion.”

Although he was already involved in the telecommunication and equipment and commercial financing industries including ownership of CMS Funding, CMS Technology Partners, and Gorilla Conferencing, he was sufficiently passionate about CBD’s benefits that he launched the company, CanRelieve, in 2018, alongside Favocci and Operations Manager, Katie Johnston.

CanRelieve’s products range from CBD oils, topicals, capsules, edibles, and skin care to a pet care line. “We offer natural relief beyond belief,” Seergy said, a riff on the brand’s motto.

The second most prominent of cannabis’s active ingredients (after THC), CBD has demonstrated effectiveness in the relief of pain, anxiety, depression, insomnia, inflammation, and autoimmune diseases. A European Journal of Pain report also indicated that CBD, applied on the skin, can help lower pain and inflammation due to arthritis. “Another study,” reads an article in Harvard Medical Schools Harvard Health Publishing site, “demonstrated the mechanism by which CBD inhibits inflammatory and neuropathic pain, two of the most difficult types of chronic pain to treat.”

“I think CBD really helps balance out your body,” Johnston said. “It doesn’t cure anything; it just helps rebalance. It’s like taking any other type of supplement that just makes overall wellness improve.”

It’s difficult to see results, however, if the product used is made to less than exacting standards. (CBD products with less then .03% of THC are not yet regulated or tested by the FDA.) That’s where, Seergy explained, CanRelieve distinguishes itself from early stages of manufacturing to delivery and sales. “We spend time doing the research,” he pointed out. “When we buy the product from our manufacturers in California and Colorado, we get a Certificate Of Analysis, which tells us where the hemp came from, when it was processed, and the amount of CBD. More importantly, once we get that product, we third party test it again to make sure it has the standard amount of CBD, terpenes [one of the primary constituents of essential oils], and other good stuff that it’s supposed to have. And not only do we sell it, we all use it. There’s not one product that gets sold to a customer unless we’ve used it.”

Favocci is a pharmacist on staff, and is available to shoppers through the “Ask the Pharmacist” section on CanRelieve’s website. “We haven’t found one other the commerce CBD company out there that has a pharmacist,” Seergy noted.

“The reason we got into this business is because it helps people,” he added. “Quite frankly, we love our customers and they love us. We’ve always said we want to provide beyond excellent customer service, so they always come back.”
