DUBAI’S EVER-SWELLING SKYLINE WILL SOON WELCOME A NEW CROWN JEWEL WITH THE UPCOMING RISE OF THE CLOUD CRESTING JACOB & CO.-BRANDED SUPER-RESIDENCES, BILLED AS THE GLOBE’S FIRST HYPERTOWER

BY AMANDA McCOY

It’s practically boilerplate to precede any upcoming development project in Dubai with a superlative like “groundbreaking,” but the City of Gold is once again smashing conventions and records alike with the announcement of the world’s inaugural residential “hypertower.” The sky-piercing super structure is an ambitious collaboration between two industry titans: UAE development power house Binghatti Properties, and ultra-luxe time piece retailer Jacob & Co. (the NYC designer has been on a tear as of late, reporting a record revenue growth of +132% between 2020 and 2022, especially staggering if you consider a Jacob & Co. wristwatch starts at $15,000). The skyscraper, christened as the Burj Binghatti Jacob & Co Residences, will stretch 103 stories toward the steamy desert sun and offer a sea of stylish amenities.

“Both our brands are born from the sheer desire to achieve what breaks boundaries,” explained Muhammad Binghatti, CEO of the accolade-dripping development firm. “What Binghatti has done in real estate by creating a brand through a distinct design philosophy and architectural identity is very similar to what Jacob & Co. has done in the world of jewelry and horology.”

Height alone isn’t enough to send the globe into a collective frenzy; the co-branded tower also boasts a fantastical facade, namely the bouquet of diamond-shaped spires at the top, designed to mimic a crown amid the cityscape. The boxy, glass-studded exterior below the crown was inspired by Jacob & Co.’s “finely cut gems,” yielding a silhouette that appears as if it’s peppered in diamonds. It’s unabashed grandiosity, and that’s very much the point. In fact, when it’s completed in the second quarter of 2026, it’s expected to set a record as the globe’s tallest residential building.

INVESTORS SPREAD

To spearhead the architectural and interior design, Jacob & Co. enlisted a long trusted confidant, the venerable design maestro Roman Vnoukov, the visionary behind several Jacob & Co. studios around the world. Vnoukov used a tapestry of top-end materials to dress the homes; think glossy marble floors, dramatic bespoke lighting fixtures, and shiny glass walls. Rich, velvety furniture in deep royal hues gorgeously offset the metal, glass, and stone finishes. Bathrooms feature tinted transparent tubs offset by dark marble walls with sweeping, floor-to-ceiling vistas of the Dubai cityscape, while massive mosaics of Jacob & Co. pieces are thoughtfully placed throughout the living spaces to further celebrate the luxe life.

Homes will span two- and three-bedroom units, split into The Sapphire Suite Collection and The Emerald Suite Collection, respectively. (The monikers were inspired by the precious gemstones used by the watchmaker.) Grander appetites can also choose from the larger Sky Mansions and five palatial Sky Penthouses. The latter are the crème de la crème of Jacob & Co.’s first residential property; the top-floor Astronomia stretches 11,807 square feet while the flashy flagship, aptly dubbed the Billionaire Penthouse, takes up a deliciously exorbitant 22,469 square feet across two floors with stunning 360-degree views of the glittering city, including the world’s tallest structure, the Burj Khalifa. Mansions and pent houses also boast infinity pools and private elevator lifts.

Multiple levels will be dedicated to the amenities suite, spanning everything one might expect from a super-luxe neo-tower slated for the top 1%. In the health and wellness sphere, denizens will have access to a private fitness club, a serene sky garden for reflection and meditation, and a decadent spa offering a range of face and body treatments. There’s also a private members club, trendy café, chef’s table, kids recreation nook, and both an outdoor pool and indoor sky pool.

Residents are also treated to personalized services such as valet and private concierge. Tap the latter to organize a private chef-curated dinner, shopping trips, airport pick-ups, or even a personal bodyguard. Homebuyers are also added to the NYC watchmaker’s uber-exclusive preferred customer rolodex, granting them special access to bespoke releases and limited-edition timepieces.

“At Jacob & Co., we create high jewelry, high watchmaking; we also do accessories,” added Jacob & Co. founder Jacob Arabo. “But our essence is creating a lifestyle. Playing with a different scale, different objects, bringing the Jacob & Co. signature to exceptional living it’s a great opportunity for me. I’ve been designing for almost all of my life. I love to create spaces, and to go outside of my usual design field. We love to bring joy, to be associated with the greatest moments of people’s lives. Bringing this into their homes, into the place where family life is it’s an achievement we’re very proud of.”

Homes start around $2 million, and sales officially launched last summer.
