IN PARTNERSHIP WITH A PROMINENT BRITISH BIKING BRAND, MERCEDESAMG PETRONAS INTRODUCES ITS LATEST MASTERPIECE: THE LIMITED EDITION V13 F1 ROAD BIKE

BY MATTHEW MIZRACH

Until very recently, Formula 1’s foray into the world of road cycling was heavily dominated by the luxury Italian maker Ferrari. When its competitor Mercedes-AMG Petronas snagged a licensing deal with the Britain-based n+ (nPlusBikes) in 2020, a significant shift in the pecking order ensued. Mercedes-branded performance bikes and accessories became an instant success, capitalizing on the international popularity of the luxury car maker and its racing team’s lead driver (and seven-time champ) Lewis Hamilton.
Mercedes and n+ have officially introduced the newest addition to their road bike lineup: the Velo 13. Branded in the classic AMG black and turquoise color palette, this sleek performance bike looks like something out of Hamilton’s livery. Much more than an attractive face, the Velo boasts some of the same world-class engineering that has cemented Mercedes as perennial champions on the track. A bespoke chassis composed of T1000 carbon fiber results in a best-in-class weight of 7.35kg. F1-inspired aero fins cover the brake calipers, improving aerodynamics and reducing drag. The alcantara saddle is handmade in Germany and offers a forgiving ride, even on rough terrain. Only 500 units are available worldwide, and each build has a limited edition 1/500 plaque to denote its exclusivity.
