COACH’S LATEST SHEARLING COAT IS A WITTY TRIBUTE TO THE 80 YEAR OLD HOUSE’S HISTORY, WITH A FAB TOUCH OF MOD

BY MATTHEW MIZRACH

Founded nearly 80 years ago in a certain Northeastern city that has been come to be known as the New World’s fashion epicenter, Coach’s success is a testament to the power of inventive design and ingenuity. What began as a small family run leather workshop in Manhattan has risen to become a multi-billion dollar brand recognized internationally for its designer apparel. The new lineup for fall is a fitting encapsulation of the qualities that have made Coach a success. It is, as its maker explained in a press statement, a “mash up of joyful defiance and free spirited grit,” one that showcases some of the label’s finest new work while also paying tribute to its history. Perhaps the most intriguing piece from its fall runway is this luxurious, oversized shearling coat. Coach has dependably found unique ways of incorporating its logo onto apparel; here they have emblazoned its signature by tip dying the fur itself. The result is a sleek, fashion forward look on a luxuriously soft and incredibly warm winter staple coat. Made of 100% shearling lamb leather, its quintessentially Coach final touch is a contrast zip pocket at the chest with a retro logo patch in leather.
