A NEW CLOUD-PIERCING LUXURY TOWER RISES IN GOTHAM CITY, REVEALING A STRIKING COLLABORATION: FIVE EXCLUSIVE HOMES DESIGNED WITH BRITISH SUPERCAR MARQUE ASTON MARTIN, AND YES A CUSTOM DBX IS INCLUDED

BY AMANDA MCCOY

In 2018 construction commenced on award winning architect Sir David Adjaye’s first Manhattan high-rise, an 800-foot residential tower at 130 William Street. As the edifice rose in the Financial District, it became clear this project would be a glorious divergence from New York’s modern aesthetic. Where the majority of new towers favor facades marked by massive panes of glass and straight lines (think 30 Hudson Yards, One Vanderbilt, and the Central Park Tower, all topped out in 2019), Adjaye’s vision was darker. He used hand-cast concrete and bronze detailing on the exterior to create a brooding face that juxtaposes against its glittering neighbors, and large arched windows that harken back to architecture of yore. It’s at once dystopian yet majestic, a fitting nest for an international superspy in a Tom Ford suit. And what would Bond be without an equally luxurious British supercar?

Enter the Aston Martin wing, a collective of five ultra-exclusive furnished homes on the 59th and 60th floors of Adjaye’s 66-story tower. The architect collaborated closely with the British marque to design the residences with painstaking attention to detail. This isn’t the carmaker’s first foray into residential design; in 2017 Aston Martin unveiled its namesake condos in Miami, spanning 391 residences, duplexes, penthouses, and one triplex penthouse along Biscayne Bay. Its first standalone residence, the Sylvan Rock in the Hudson Valley, designed in collaboration with S3 Architecture, hit the market for $8.25 million earlier this year. But its latest collaboration with Adjaye includes an even more delicious treat: every Aston Martin home in 130 William comes with a bespoke limited edition DBX in jet black.

The homes are split into two models two penthouses and three loggias and each spans at least 2,400 square feet with three bedrooms and three-and-a half bathrooms, cocooned in oversized arch windows letting in striking views of Manhattan’s most iconic landmarks. Private patios wrap the entire length of each condo, offering the ideal space for sipping gin martinis shaken, of course high above the city bustle.

The interiors were designed to evoke the supple opulence of a classic Aston Martin ride, featuring rich handmade materials, textiles, and furnishings from the Aston Martin Home collection by luxury Italian furniture maker Formitalia. Plush Italian leather armchairs and sofas invite denizens to lie in the lap of luxury and let any daily stresses melt away. The entryways are emblazoned with the carmaker’s signature crosshatch pattern in a bronze finish, and further bronze accents are sprinkled throughout the living areas to complement the building’s facade. As a nod to the tower’s arched windows, there’s a dramatic smoked-glass mirror designed by Aston Martin in each unit.
For home chefs, gourmet kitchens are equipped with state-of the-art Gaggenau appliances and finished with blackened oak Italian cabinetry, marble countertops, and a cantilevered Nero Marquina marble top.

The primary bedroom features deep walk-in closets and luxe details like custom-crafted cashmere headboards and sleek bedside tables by Formitalia. The primary bath is particularly stirring, as the tub, floors, sink, and bottom half of the walls are rendered in the same gray-and-white cascading marble under a massive arched window. As the city fades from morning blue to evening pinks each day, its vibrant gradient washes over the monochromatic interior of the room.

Buyers also have the option to customize their layout, with the option to transform a secondary bedroom into a home office or even a gaming zone complete with a nearly $80,000 home racing simulator developed by Aston Martin and Curv Racing Simulators. And when it’s time for the real thing, the DBX awaits, featuring bespoke elements like a rich green trim that corresponds with the racing simulator, stone and walnut accents, and luscious marble inlays.

Dwellers also have access to the building’s sweeping menu of resort-like amenities. A building of this caliber wouldn’t be complete without a spa experience, thus an infinity edge pool, thermal and cold plunge pools, massage room, rain shower, and dry sauna are standing by to delight and pamper. There’s also a fitness center with a private terrace, dedicated yoga studio, and basketball court. Adjaye and his team didn’t forget the furry members of the family as a full-service pet spa is also on property.

Entertain guests in the massive clubroom with a large bar, catering kitchen, private dining room, game area, and adjacent outdoor lounge with views aplenty. Catch the latest cinema in the IMAX private theater (we recommend No Time To Die, for obvious reasons) or practice your swing in the golf simulator. Then, once evening strikes, retreat to your private lair in the clouds, and feast on all of the Empire City’s glory from above. The five homes range in price from $3.985 million to $11.5 million.
