This season, a powerful sartorial story unfolds in three acts: jewel as object, couture as legacy, and florals in full bloom. From sculptural minaudières that double as heirlooms to jade-washed silhouettes that glide across the horizon, and finally a riot of gemstones refracting spring light, fashion turns ornamental and unapologetically luminous.

Gilded Grasp

Long before the minaudière became a red carpet staple, its jeweled origins traced to the early 20th century, when a society hostess’s dissatisfaction with her metal cigarette case prompted jeweler Charles Arpels to create something ornamental yet functional. The result was the minaudière, a petite, hard-cased evening bag designed to carry only the barest essentials, treated with the reverence of fine jewelry. That alchemy of utility and adornment now finds a Roman inflection in Bulgari’s new Icons Minaudière Collection. Under the direction of Mary Katrantzou, the maison revisits its enduring emblems Monete, Serpenti, Tubogas, Divas’ Dream, and the Bulgari signature—rendering each as a sculptural talisman. These are not merely evening bags but pocket-sized objets d’art, conceived with the codes of high jewelry: amethyst and tiger’s eye glowing against mother-of-pearl and malachite, each surface finished with the exactitude of a finely wrought clasp. “Each minaudière was conceived not simply to hold objects, but to hold meaning,” Katrantzou noted, a sentiment echoed in the campaign starring the likes of Isabella Rossellini, Linda Evangelista, and Kim Ji-won. In Katrantzou’s hands, the minaudière returns to its original proposition: a jewel first, a bag second.
Cosmically Aligned

There is no greater tribute to an artist than to continue the line he began. When Giorgio Armani passed last year, he left behind not just an empire but an ethos, one now entrusted to his niece, Silvana Armani, who steps forward with the first couture collection for Armani Privé designed in his absence. Titled Jade, the 2026 offering moves with quiet assurance: shoulders remain sculpted, but the silhouette softens into fluid silk trousers, sheer shirting, and ties traced with chinoiserie motifs, a whisper of ornament rather than a declaration. Brooches shaped like rosettes and oriental hand fans glint from lapels, while evening gowns in pale green, blush, and ivory dissolve into thousands of sequins and beads, set against the graphic punctuation of black. It is a study in restraint and radiance, where satin and silk falls in vertical lines, and a plethora of pastels—jade, pink, and white—rest lightly on the body, as if legacy itself were something to be worn, not carried.
