FOR KALCO LIGHTING, CRYSTALS PLACE SOMEWHERE BETWEEN MANUFACTURING COMPONENT AND SPIRITUAL QUEST

BY ARCHANA AITHAL ROSE

For Allegri by Kalco Lighting, crystals defined simply as quartz pieces that are transparent, or nearly so place somewhere between practical manufacturing component and spiritual quest. The Las Vegas based company’s fixtures, lamps, and chandeliers are frequently dressed in crystals produced using the maker’s exclusive Firenze techniques, and are sourced throughout the world in order to meet its exacting standards then cut, polished, and coated to create a remarkable degree of shine and refraction. The Floridia 3 Tier Chandelier seen here, versatile enough to fit vintage and modern décors alike, features elegantly curved polished chrome fonts and arms that hold lighted candles strung from chain hung supports. It also sports a solid brass frame with a polished chrome finish, ornamented by an arrangement of multifaceted crystal bobeches and Firenze crystal drops. The cluster of candelabra lamps and candles produce yet further reflections and refractions.
