ON WHAT’S RUMORED TO AEROSMITH’S FINAL TOUR, THESE ROCK LEGENDS MAKE AUGUST STOPS AT THE BORGATA

BY JON DOMENICK

Both iconic rockers Aerosmith and their loyal fans thrill to the former’s 2019 residency at Park MGM in Las Vegas. During August, the boys will bring this “Deuces are Wild” show to the East Coast for dates in Maryland, Massachusetts, and New Jersey (two performances at the Borgata on August 16 and 18).

This “East Coast Run,” including new visuals and audio from Aerosmith recording sessions, will be presented in L ISA Hyperreal sound, which enables artists to deliver new multidimensional audio experiences, heightening the sense of proximity and deepening connections between performers and audiences. The production, in partnership with Fireplay, enables producers to bring custom designed versions of the show to each venue.

Augmenting the tour is Grammy Award winning producer Giles Martin, known for creating the soundscape for “The Beatles LOVE” by Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas, and groundbreaking visual and special effects studio Pixomondo, the visual team behind HBO’s Game of Thrones.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band, which originated in Boston in the 1970s, is comprised of lead vocalist Steven Tyler, lead guitarist Joe Perry, guitarist Brad Whitford, bassist Tom Hamilton, and drummer Joey Kramer. The group has made music history, selling over 150 million albums worldwide. They are the recipients of four Grammys, eight American Music Awards, six Billboard Awards and 12 MTV Video Music Awards (among other honors)…even a Soul Train Award for Best Rap Single for their remix of Run DMC’s “Walk This Way.” With scores of multi-platinum releases, Aerosmith hits include “Sweet Emotion,” “Livin’ on the Edge,” “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” and “Dream On.”

“Despite the lasers, animated videos, and fancy pyrotechnics, ‘Deuces Are Wild’ isn’t a glitzy or glammy show,” according to a review in Las Vegas Weekly. “It’s a straightforward rock concert, churning out hit after hit. Casual consumers of Aerosmith’s discography might not love the set list or production, but for diehards, the ‘Deuces Are Wild’ show is certainly worth betting on.”

Vegas visitors can take in a multimedia retrospective of band history with its Aerosmith exhibit, which includes memorabilia from the band’s epic run, and is guided “by your own VIP host.” Exclusively at The Park Theater as part of the “Deuces are Wild” residency, and there’s no show ticket needed to enter.

Celebrating their 50th anniversary, Aerosmith is embarked upon what Perry initially labeled their “farewell tour,” but were persuaded to undertake the Vegas residency to continue what may or may not be a last blast. The tour finishes its Vegas run December 4, or so we’re told.
