WHAT HAPPENS WHEN TWO OF ITALY’S MOST PROMINENT FASHION HOUSES UNITE TO “SWAP STYLES”? A DOUBLEHEADER COLLECTION THAT LOOKS SO GOOD IT COULD KILL
BY ARCHANA AITHAL ROSE
Don’t call it a collab, insist Fendi and Versace. Call it a swap. Head designers Kim Jones and Donatella Versace have individually made history with their signature styles and groundbreaking collections, but this time they’re teaming up to share house codes and send the industry into a leather-clad frenzy.
Launching two separate collections in their brands’ independent boutiques worldwide, Fendi x Versace, Versace x Fendi, the designers are creating striking reinterpretations of their luxury cult classics. Fendi’s famed double F is seen against Versace’s baroque print; T-shirts and hoodies are featured in co-branded prints; Versace’s Medusa motif regularly makes an appearance on lustrous silk dresses; Fendi’s baguette bags are accented with Versace flair. One for the archives, this unprecedented move is, as Jones stated, “done out of friendship. It is the beauty of togetherness after time apart and a celebration of women who have inspired me so much.”
