CASA TO, A LUXURY BOUTIQUE HOTEL NESTLED ALONG THE SOUTHERNMOST TIP OF OAXACA, MEXICO, LURES RESTLESS SOULS INTO A WONDERLAND OF ZEN

BY ARCHANA AITHAL ROSE

Heralded as one of the great surfing meccas of the world and filled with picturesque coves and turquoise waters, Puerto Escondido in Mexico’s Oaxacan region is easily one of North America’s best kept secrets. Just south of Escondido, tucked among the wild vegetation, lies Casa TO, a breathtaking boutique hotel that appears as an extension of its stunning surroundings. Set within walking distance of Zicatela beach, this unique Ludwig Godefroy-designed features nine spacious villa suites comprised of natural materials and filled with handmade décor from local artisans. The hotel’s architecture draws inspiration from ancient Oaxacan temples to create deeply meditative spaces where guests can let their worries melt with the sun.

The exterior, flanked by tall concrete walls, hides a lush oasis brimming with banana and passion fruit trees, a covered infinity pool, and a bright solarium. Six of the nine rooms feature access to the gardens, while the other three are appointed with expan- sive terraces and outdoor baths. The en-suite bathrooms are stocked with vegan, cruelty-free products from local brands to align with the resort’s commitment to sustainability. Guests can also purchase Casa objects, all certified fair trade.
