Aman erings its signature serenity to the open water with amangati, an ultra-swanky motor yacht designed to redefine luxury living atop the high seas
by Amanda Mccoy

There’s a particular stillness that defines a stay at an Aman resort: the subtle sway of a mature palm frond, the quiet choreography of impeccable service, the sense that time itself has softened at the edges. With Amangati, the brand’s forthcoming luxury motor yacht, that philosophy leaves land behind entirely, trading private pavilions for open ocean and reimagining the Aman experience for the modern explorer with an insatiable thirst for wonder and whimsy. The Switzerland-headquartered hospitality juggernaut joins an elite menage of ultra-luxe resort groups taking the five-star experience to the water.

The 600-foot superyacht will officially set sail next spring, with itineraries that highlight the majesty of the Mediterranean and beyond, from the French Riviera and Amalfi Coast to the Greek Isles. One day, the limestone grandeur of the 15th century Aragonese Castle keeps watch in the distance while you sip espresso on your private terrace, while the next, you’re treated to the Romanesque cathedrals of Kotor, Montenegro. The ship’s maiden voyage, departing Palma de Mallorca on May 7, 2027, will whisk dreamers away on a six-night excursion through Barcelona, Palamós, and Marseille before concluding in Nice.

Exclusivity remains a central tenet of the Aman experience even at sea, thus Amangati was designed with just 47 super-spacious suites. Each of the five suite types features private terraces, timber-toned interiors reminiscent of traditional Japanese ryokan homes, and full-height windows that funnel in views of rocky cliffs and ancient hamlets. The color palette is soft and soothing, with warm woods and neutral textiles that calm the senses and let the panorama outside take center stage.

Dial up the drama in the top two offerings: the Aman Suite and Grand Suite. The latter stretches nearly 1,100 square feet and features a massive bow-facing terrace with loungers along with a dedicated living room, while the flagship Aman key exemplifies sailing splendor with soaring ceilings, a 12-person formal dining table, and a marble-clad bathroom with a private sauna, freestanding tub, and spa treatment room. Its nearly 4,000 square feet of space includes an astonishingly large teak terrace that’s studded with outdoor sofas and loungers, plus a whirlpool tub for impromptu dips amid the endless horizon.

Thoughtful touches abound to heighten the experience (this is Aman, after all, a brand famed for its next-level service and white-glove concierge). In-room beverage centers are stocked with guests’ personal favorites, and if libations run low, simply ping your Suite Host with the touch of a button. While the thrill of Sardinia’s Emerald Coast might inspire a digital detox, Starklink Wi-Fi ensures no call or email gets lost to the magic.

The amenities on tap span everything from a cinema and sultry jazz club to a cigar lounge and gelato bar, plus the superyacht’s crown jewel: the 12,817-square-foot Aman Spa, a sweeping health and wellness center that stretches across two full decks – a dizzying feat considering the vessel’s 600-foot frame. Facilities include eight ocean-facing treatment suites (each finished with an outdoor whirlpool), a dual-story Japanese garden, wooden banya, marble hammam, and Technogym fitness center. There’s also a yoga and meditation deck on the upper level for quiet moments of reflection, plus a pair of shallow port and starboard Sea Pools with built-in loungers. If the next port of call demands a fresh new ’do, the on-site beauty lounge offers mani/pedis and hair styling services along with express facials for a quick pick-me-up.

Stacked with water toys, the Selora Marina answers the ocean’s siren song, and a day of waterskiing or paddleboarding is sure to conjure up quite the appetite. At mealtimes, expect options in both genre and setting. Lavish spreads are available for delivery straight to your suite, or you can spruce up with the latest from Dior’s Cruise collection to sit down for fresh seafood and seasonal Mediterranean delicacies at Alira, followed by a smoke-forward nightcap at the intimate Bar at Aman Grill. Perhaps cravings call for Wagyu and Japanese whisky? There’s authentic teppanyaki cuisine at Hiori’s intimate chef’s counter, or you can opt for a formal omakase experience at Akari.

Five-night itineraries begin at $38,500 per suite.
