LOUIS VUITTON COLLABORATED WITH ARTIST EXTRAORDINAIRE DONNA HUANCA TO CREATE A SPECIAL EDITION OF ITS REVERED CAPUCINES BAG, AN AUDACIOUSLY ABSTRACT VISION IN BLUE

BY ARCHANA AITHAL ROSE

Louis Vuitton is no stranger to art. The French luxury design house has long collaborated with artists, tapping the talents of visionaries like Yayoi Kusama, Takashi Murakami, Stephen Sprouse, Jeff Koons, Urs Fischer, and more, on a series of limited editions. Continuing this tradition, the atelier has now joined forces with Chicago-born artist Donna Huanca whose exquisite oeuvre includes an amalgamation of vibrant colors and tactile movement resulting in transportive abstracts. The MM Capucines bag displays two of Huanca’s celebrated paintings Cara de Fuego and Muyal Jol in a textural, 3-D printed form with hand-painted details. Rendered in shades of blue and white, the abstract strokes cover the entirety of the cowhide and Taurillon leather bag, well-appointed with a PVC-coated knit trim, cowhide leather lining, removable strap, and compartmented interiors bearing the artist’s signature. Its double carry style features a monogram flower over the flap with a bold LV silver logo on the back. The deeply immersive movement of colors along with the subtle silver hardware complete the high-octane style.
