MODEL-TURNED-CEO JENNIFER MACLELLAN IS BUILDING HER OWN EMPIRE IN THE SLEEPWEAR SPACE

NDUSTRY: How did you get started modeling? Tell us about some gigs you’ve done. JENNIFER MACLELLAN: I got my start in modeling just after high school in Philadelphia. From there, I began traveling for swimsuit competitions and pageants. Over the course of about 15 years, I’ve modeled for various projects, including promotional work, print, commercials, fit modeling, calendars, and more. While I still book some gigs here and there, I’ve transitioned into working with brands as an ambassador, and I’m now modeling for my own brand, Toozi Sleepwear. It’s still hard to believe I model something I own, but it encourages me to take ownership in what I create and I truly love it.

IM: What is your favorite thing about the spring season? JM: Having grown up in the Northeast, I’ve always loved the arrival of spring and the warmth it brings. Everything is fresh and in bloom, making it the perfect time to find a rooftop and enjoy a glass of rosé! Now that I live in South Florida, I feel fortunate to have beautiful weather year-round, so every day feels like spring.

IM: Does your background influence your look? JM: Absolutely! I believe my look has evolved at various stages of my life, shaped by my personal and professional experiences. Lately, I’ve embraced a more business-professional style – I absolutely love wearing suits! Working in the fashion industry has inspired me to stay updated on trends, and modeling has also taught me what I love and don’t love about my appear ance. This helps me tailor my look to accentuate or minimize certain features.

IM: Where are you currently living? JM: I currently call Fort Lauderdale, Florida, my home, and I have an office in Miami. I still travel to New York almost monthly for work, which keeps me connected to the fashion scene there.

IM: Tell us about your career. JM: I recently launched my own brand, Toozi Sleepwear. It’s a premium sleepwear line that’s not only woman-owned but also eco-conscious. I’ve poured my heart and soul into creating something that helps women look and feel beautiful, even while at home. We spend so much time at home, and I believe we should feel just as put-together in our sleepwear as we do at the office. If you look good, you feel good, and you sleep beautifully! It’s surreal to say I’m the founder and CEO of a company; it truly feels like my baby.
