When Mike Marziano started working in the kitchen business in 1979, installing cabinets as a finish carpenter for a variety of different manufacturers, he saw the errors that many cabinet makers often made, and knew he could make a better product.

So, he opened a small storefront (just 1,000 square feet) on Bradley Avenue in 1986, and the business thrived. He expanded almost a decade later and moved the shop to Amboy Road, which offered a bigger and better showroom to display his wares. Today, Marziano’s Staten Island Kitchen Cabinets MFG occupies 82,000 square feet of real estate on Arthur Kill Road and features a full manufacturing facility on-site.

“I wanted to build a space where my showroom and manufacturing facility were all under one roof; that was my dream,” Marziano said, detailing why he bought the property between Arden Avenue and Woodrow Road 15 years ago. “Here, we are able to offer complete service for customers who are renovating or constructing a kitchen. We design, measure, and install and have the full capability to make completely custom pieces for our customers’ homes.”

Marziano, who started his business selling and installing stock cabinets, now makes use of computerized machines to design complete kitchen landscapes. He takes an active role in every job his company tackles, either directly or behind the scenes.

“I have 30 years of experience, so when I take or look at measurements, I know how a kitchen will function best,” he noted, estimating that he has installed and created thousands of kitchens in this borough over the past three decades.

The process begins when customers enter the showroom for a consultation. After talking cabinet styles, colors, and finishes, measurements are taken in the field and designing can begin. There are variety of styles and brands to choose from, and Marziano offered some trending at the moment.

“Cherry is a classic look; it never goes out of style, but it’s also very hot right now,” he noted. “Linen is very popular as well, and many clients are choosing it with an espresso glaze. But graphite, a sort of greenish color, has also become popular in many kitchens throughout the borough.”

Granite and quartz countertops are also among Staten Island Kitchen Cabinets’ most requested products, while hardware ranges from brushed nickel and bronze to silver and brass varieties.

A professional decorator is also available for hire at the business, as well as a tile retailer.

Luxury accents, the owner, offered, are always part of the equation for every type of homeowner.

“Kitchens have gotten very luxurious since I started this business in 1986,” he said. “Crown molding, for example, has always been used, but it was a lot simpler then.

Cabinets have taken such a fancy turn…we do a large variety of corbels and other decorative accents. We have a variety of designs, though, and can make any piece to fit a customer’s tastes.”
