MODEL MACKENZIE SYDOW HAS OVERCOME SEVERAL OBSTACLES TO WALK THE RUNWAY, AND SHE CONTINUES TO WORK HARD TO REALIZE HER DREAM OF HELPING OTHERS

INDUSTRY: How did you get started modeling?

MACKENZIE SYDOWE: I started modeling in 2020 at the age of 19, when COVID was at an all time high. For many, this was a season of isolation and fear, but for me, I felt this was the best time to showcase my talent, creativ-ity, and motivation for art and beauty. Through mutual friends, I found a local photographer within New Mexico on Instagram by the name of Erik McCormick (Gerikmecormick), and his photos caught my eye. I liked a few photos of his, not expecting him to notice a small town, Albuquerque qirl like me that hardly posted photos of myself, but within minutes, I received a message from him offering me my first ever photoshoot.

IM: Tell us about some gigs you’ve done.

MS: I have walked in fashion rumway shows in New York during New York Fashion Week, Las Vegas, El Paso, and Albuquerque, modeling clothing for exceptional designers. I have worked with incredible photographers, not only within my hometown, but in Arizona, Dallas, Miami, and other places I had never been to beforehand, and probably wouldn’t have traveled to quite yet if it wasn’t for modeling.

IM: What is your favorite thing about the fall season?

MS: Pumpkin spice lattes and wearing hoodies and cute fall outfits that consist of sweat ers, scarfs, and knee-high boots. I also enjoy Halloween and Thanksgiving because those holidays include quality time spent with loved ones, and my birthday is in October, so fall season means Scorpio season.

IM: Does your background influence your look?

MS: Yes and no. Yes, my background influences my look because I like to think my pres ence and aura is represented and motivated by my morals. I like to think that instead of remaining negative, mean, and ignorant from the things I have been through, I chose to overcome the obstacles that were thrown at me at such a young age, and I continue to persevere. lost both of my parents while still in high school, took on being the quardian of my younger brother (also while still in high school), and have been dealt some really nasty cards because of the choices of others, yet I try to maintain such a positive, kind, caring attitude.
