HOW A MONTREAL BASED WINTERWEAR MAKER BLAZED HER OWN FORM FITTING AND EXUBERANT TRAIL
BY MATTHEW MIZRACH
Montreal based fashion designer Nicole Benisti has seen an industry remarkable boost in notoriety in recent years a trend that looks to continue in 2018. The CEO and creative director of her eponymous label oversees a distinctive line of fur parkas and jackets and has stemmed from early recognition mostly in her Canadian home base to widespread international acclaim. Riding the fur wave through its PR vicissitudes, good and bad, she shakes off animal rights critics in part by just having so much fun lining form fitting parkas and jackets with fur in hues of bright magenta and shocking blue, and in the process acquiring celebrity fans like Jennifer Lopez and models Coco Rocha and Elena Perminova.
Seen here is the Saville Parka from her men’s line (M. Benisti), constructed of lamb nappa leather for the exterior, while the interior is lined with soft duck down, with a dyed raccoon fur hood as a pièce de résistance(plus, it’s detachable!).
