For Celine’s Creative Director Hedi Slimane, the 1960s embody the maison’s golden age, an era of cultural rebellion and artistic edge. After drawing inspiration from the decade for Fall-Winter 2024, Slimane continued the narrative with this year’s Spring-Summer collection titled Un Été Français (A French Summer), a tribute to Left Bank cool, reimagined through youth culture. Inspired by Françoise Sagan’s book La Chamade and icons like Juliette Gréco, the collection unfolds like a cinematic script: baby doll dresses, preppy school girl uniforms, floral minis, pastel twinsets with sequins, and Breton stripes all capture the intellectual glamour, emotional intensity, and femme fatale allure of a generation rewriting the rules served in an unapologetically chic French aesthetic.
