SHOW AND PASTEL
Dating as far back as the 1930s, women have opted to lighten their locks with cool, soft shades of pink, blue, and mauve, and today pastel shades are just as in vogue as blonde, brown, and red. There’s a myriad of ways to pull off the pastel trend, from all over color to a balayage fade. The season’s hero hues are golden peach which took off in the fall and is carrying over into spring and summer grayish blue, coral, and smoky purple/gray. For the brave, a two toned ombre with lilac, blue, or green is also gaining steam. Classic pink is always a mainstay, and it’s a superb option for fair skinned people with a natural rosy tint to their skin as it pulls the pink away from the face.

FRINGE WORTHY
Last fall, the Spring/Summer 2021 runways took on a decidedly different format, opting for either all digital or pared down versions of the always highly anticipated fashion extravaganza. But even under the pandemic’s dark cloud, the parade of forthcoming trends was as delicious and palpable as ever, from sequins and sportswear to prim pleated skirts. And for hair, one style stole the show the fringe (or bangs). This versatile cut is enjoying a glorious resurgence, and it boasts the happy advantage of making wearers look younger. There’s no one size fits all cut; the multi-faceted fringe works on short, medium, and even belt grazing lengths and on every face shape. The curtain fringe, for instance, parts down the middle and falls into loose, ‘70s style waves. The punk rock micro fringe is cut an inch or higher above the brows (a staple of the latest runway looks), while the universally flattering wispy fringe frames the face with long, chunky bangs. So channel your inner Heidi Klum and shake things up this summer with a trendy fringe cut.

HAIR DÉCOR
Silk, studs, sequins, beads: all of our favorite accessory materials are moving above the shoulders. From tie dyed scrunchies to layered barrettes, vibrant hair décor is lighting up the runway and our social media feeds, proving to be the ultimate finishing piece this season. Hair accessories provide instant and effortless panache to any look, from a bright red headband to a sleek, oversized black bow. Designers are also getting in on the action; Gucci, Prada, Versace, and more have all released fresh hair accessories for 2021. This year, scrunchies are no longer limited to bathroom use, and headbands are all grown up.
